Working together for better health
An-Najah National University (ANNU) works as an institution with hospitals, ministries, health agencies, professional health bodies and international medical organisations to improve health and wellbeing outcomes for the people it serves. These collaborations are formalised through signed agreements and memoranda of understanding at university, faculty and University Hospital level, and they are put into practice through shared clinical services, specialist training, joint research, public-health campaigns and humanitarian medical missions.
The work is led across the University by the Faculty of Medicine and Allied Medical Sciences, the Faculty of Nursing, the Faculty of Pharmacy, the Faculty of Dentistry and Dental Surgery, the Faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine (Nutrition), An-Najah National University Hospital (NNUH), the An-Najah Global Health Institute (GHI), the Palestinian Child Institute and the University’s Life Support Training Centre. Together they connect patients, students, clinicians and researchers with partner institutions at three levels: local, national and global.

What these collaborations achieve
-
Wider access to specialised care: service agreements with health centres in Nablus, Tulkarm, Jenin, Tubas and Qalqilya bring University Hospital specialists, diagnostics and referral pathways closer to patients across the northern West Bank.
-
A stronger health workforce: physicians, nurses, midwives, pharmacists and laboratory scientists are trained with partners such as IMET2000-Pal, the Palestinian Medical Council, Cardiff University, Oxford University Hospitals, Tunisian hospitals and the American Heart Association.
-
Safer, better care in hospital: infection-prevention work with HEAL Palestine, trauma life-support training and cancer-care cooperation with King Hussein Cancer Center raise standards for patients.
-
Healthier communities: diabetes nutrition training in primary care, vision screening for schoolchildren, cancer awareness campaigns and support for kidney patients reach people where they live.
-
Evidence for policy: joint research with WHO, the Ministry of Health, UNRWA and international hospitals informs decisions on chronic disease, child nutrition, cancer and adolescent health.
Joint research that improves health
In 2025, An-Najah researchers published 583 papers with international co-authors, 145 of them on health and wellbeing (about 25%). Selected 2025 studies with external health institutions:
